Dubai – Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS), a regional leader in banking and finance education and training, hosted its annual CHRO Networking Event under the theme ‘Emiratization Strategy Execution in the Banking Sector’.

Convening over 50 Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) and Emiratization Managers, the session covered the challenges the banking sector currently faces as well as the emerging opportunities. In addition, the attendees discussed HR best practices to empower the workforce and highlighted the need to include competency-based learning modules as part of their recruitment and retention strategy to ensure sustainable growth. As part of the event, Shahab Essa Al Zaabi, Head of Licensing at the Central Bank of the UAE, also shared critical updates on the Emiratization Point System introduced by the Bank to provide opportunities for UAE nationals in the banking and finance sector.

Speaking about the forum, Hesham Abdullah Al Qassim, Chairman of EIBFS, said: “2020 was undoubtedly a challenging time for every one of us. However, the year also presented several unique opportunities. As a leading banking and finance institution, our focus at EIBFS has been to assess emerging opportunities in the sector and ensure that we have the right courses in place to empower the next generation of bankers while also enabling the existing workforce. Through our annual CHRO networking event, we are pleased to meet with our partners and understand how we can serve them better.”

For his part, Jamal Al Jassmi, General Manager of EIBFS, said: “At EIBFS, we are committed to contributing to realizing the UAE government’s vision to build a knowledge-based economy through providing training to Emiratis in the banking sector. To this end, we aim to regularly meet with our stakeholders to understand what next steps should be.”

He added: “Today, Emiratis have carved out a niche for themselves in the financial sector and we believe with focused and tailored training programs, they can excel in their careers and transform the UAE into a robust financial hub of the future.”

At the Forum, EIBFS also introduced its bespoke skills-based programs to participants. The programs aim to support the learning and development practice across the financial sector. Since the beginning of the pandemic, EIBFS has routinely assessed the changing needs of the banking sector and pivoted to introduce new training programs that cover competency-based learning modules to better equip professionals.
