Due to customer demand, Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT) is expanding its aviation training facility with the addition of three full-flight simulators.
 
Emirates' Chairman, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, and Jeff Roberts, Group President Civil Simulation and Training, CAE, signed the contract in Dubai on the eve of the opening of Dubai Helishow 2004.

The signing was also attended by the Canadian Ambassador to the UAE, HE David Hutton, the Canadian Dubai Consul General Graham Rush, and Maurice Flanagan, Emirates' Vice Chairman and Group President.

Sheikh Ahmed said: "I am very pleased that within one full year of operation, Emirates-CAE Flight Training has become the training provider of choice to airlines both within the Middle East and beyond.
  
"With the additional simulators, we can offer a wider range of services to new and existing customers who will be assured of a comfortable stay in the safe and modern city of Dubai." 
 
As part of this expansion, Emirates will buy two new full-flight simulators from CAE: a Boeing 777 and an Airbus A320, both to be installed by Spring 2006.
 
These contracts represent CAE's 10th and 11th full-flight simulator orders this fiscal year and, at list price, are worth approximately US$26 million.
 
The two simulators will feature the CAE Tropos visual system, which provides pilots with highly realistic visual cues through the application of extensive satellite imagery, enhanced weather, advanced real-time lighting and shading effects.

The third simulator, an Airbus A330/A340, is an existing device that will be relocated from within CAE's global network.

"We are committed to making Emirates-CAE Flight Training the leading flight training facility in the region, serving both commercial airlines and business aviation operators," said Jeff Roberts. "The addition of these new devices is a key element of this strategy."

ECFT is jointly operated by Emirates and CAE under a long-term teaming agreement. The 14-bay centre houses the following full-flight simulators: an Airbus A319/ACJ/A320/A321, an A330/A340, a Boeing 737 NG/BBJ, a Hawker 800/800XP, as well as a Gulfstream IV and V. A Bell 412 helicopter simulator will be added to the fleet at the end of 2005, in addition to another Boeing 737 BBJ/NG simulator.
