Local bands, art and craft displays, and traditional homes to showcase Emarati culture
Dubai Festival City, a key sponsor of 'Eid in Dubai' and one among the main venues of events during Eid Al Adha, will host a Heritage Zone as part of efforts to highlight the traditional way of celebrating Eid. The zone will be set up as part of the Eid District in the mall.
Located at the waterfront of Dubai Festival City, the Heritage Zone will feature kiosks displaying various arts and crafts. The zone has been designed to reflect authentic Emarati architecture through traditional homes and surroundings. Three local bands will perform traditional music for visitors.
Yousif Mubarak, Chief Operations Officer of the DSF Office said, "Through our past experiences, cultural and traditional activities have been extremely popular with visitors during events organized by the DSF Office and this is why we planned the Heritage Zone during 'Eid in Dubai'. Additionally, this initiative is in line with our efforts to support events marking 2008 as the Year of National Identity."
Open for free during Eid Al Adha, visitors to the zone will also be able to see Emarati homes as constructed in the past using palm fibres and palm tree trunks. Heritage tents are also being put up to welcome families and visitors by serving coffee and dates.
Organised by Dubai Shopping Festival Office and supported by wasl, 'Eid in Dubai' is sponsored by Dubai Festival City, Emirates Airline, Dubai World Trade Centre, and ARY Exclusive. The event is held in association with Dubai Shopping Malls Group and Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group. Arab Media Group is the media partner of the event.
