• EADS Offers Internships At Research Laboratories

PARIS/MUNICH, 29 November 2011 - EADS has partnered with Stars of Science, a pan-Arab reality television programme initiated by The Qatar Foundation dedicated to innovation with the aim of finding the next generation of young Arab innovators.

During a recent visit to Doha, EADS Chief Executive Officer Louis Gallois met with participants in Stars of Science and offered four long-term internship awards for a training programme within any EADS corporate Research & Technology laboratory. Since its creation in 2000, the EADS Group with its four divisions has already created over 15,000 new high-tech jobs and demonstrated a leading role in aerospace and defence innovation with over 9,000 patents.

Dr. Jean Botti, EADS' Chief Technical Officer, said: "We are proud to support this unique programme in the Arab world. Stars of Science supports innovation, an area which EADS prioritizes through its research and technology activities. Our support of this programme is a symbol of EADS´ commitment to Qatar and to find and source the best innovative minds from around the world."

The selection of the four EADS interns was carried out by EADS management, dependent upon the relevancy of respective projects for the Group or the individual potential of the participants. The four EADS winners will be announced during the final programme on December 1, 2011. This selection is independent of the official ranking in the competition for which Mohammed Salem Al-Kuwari, the General Manager of the EADS Competence Centre in Qatar (CCQ), is a member of the jury. The CCQ is located in the Qatar Science and Technology Park.

Bertrand Deyzac, Managing Director of EADS Qatar, added: "The Stars of Science programme is a unique event that allows young people to demonstrate their talents. We are always seeking to tie up with visionary partners such as The Qatar Foundation which, like EADS, are committed to encouraging the younger generation to build a better future through science and innovation."

The corporate R&T laboratories are operated by EADS Innovation Works. This global network of Technical Capabilities Centres promotes the Group's technical innovation potential with a focus on the long-term.
