Cable provider adds Disney channel

Dubai, 10 July 2004: Emirates Cable TV and Multimedia(E-Vision) today announced the launch of two separate Orbit packages as part of its drive to tailor its services to the specific needs of the various communities in the UAE. The move, which sees the company confirm its position as the country's leader in cable entertainment, coupled with the launch of the Disney channel from Orbit, makes E-Vision the most comprehensive cable-TV entertainment provider in the region.

E-Vision's Chief Executive Officer Humaid Rashid Sahoo said: "Our new product packages are tailored to meet the cultural demographics of the UAE. Adding the world renowned Disney channel to our array of children programming, which includes our own very popular e-junior channel, gives E-Vision the qualitative edge in children's and family entertainment".

E-Vision now offers two powerful bouquets from Orbit, namely Orbit Vision MEGA - which is a total entertainment package for the viewer who 'wants everything', providing the entire range of Western & Arabic channels, and Orbit Vision PRIME, which is a dedicated Western entertainment package for the viewer who is specifically looking for world class western entertainment.

Sahoo added: "These additions will effectively be providing a single source for the most comprehensive and flexible entertainment packages for varied audiences."

Orbit Vision consists of branded Western and internally produced Arabic channels in addition to exclusive and internationally recognized thematic channels.

Commenting on its two distinguished bouquets, Orbit's Regional Director for the Gulf, Magnus Simons, said: "The best news for the consumer by far is that Orbit continuously provides added value to an audience hungry for greater diversity in programming with a vast selection of world-class entertainment and is the only service provider in the market today that provides this best mix of Western & Arabic entertainment at the most competitive price."

In a bid to become the best in TV entertainment, E-Vision has recently added several other new channels to its service, most recently Al Jazeera Sports, CNBC Arabiyah, Al Hurra and other popular channels from the subcontinent such as TV Lanka 2, Jaya TV and NDTV.

E-Vision is currently available in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Al-Ain. The company operates through its regional sales offices and its re-sellers' showrooms where E-Vision's subscription services are available, in addition to operating a customer service centre through a toll free number 800 5500.
