New programming line-up for the Arab world is tailored to meet the needs of the region's broadcasters with a renewed focus on local partnerships

New coproduction with Al Hayah already a huge success in Egypt

DW-TV ARABIA was re-launched on September 12 with a new schedule offering a block of programming in Arabic during primetime and a focus on establishing a dialogue between Europe and the Arab world. In the first two months, the successes are beginning to add up.

More than 3.6 million viewers were tuning in to each episode of Shababtalk in the show's first three weeks. Shababtalk is just one of the new programs available on DW-TV ARABIA. The talk show is a coproduction with Egypt's market leader Al Hayaht that brings together young representatives from the democratic movement in Egypt with their German counterparts from youth organizations, political parties and other associations.

"This is a huge success for Deutsche Welle," says Christoph Lanz, Director of Television. "We want to use our Arabic television line-up to offer representatives from the Arab World and Europe a platform to discuss what matters to people most. But also a platform to exchange experiences. We are excited to see that what we are offering is being received so positively."

DW-TV ARABIA also introduced a range of new talk shows, each covering a different facet of modern life. On the Pulse brings Arab and German experts together to discuss issues related to democratization, politics, economics, the role of the government, justice and religion. Talking to the Press is a roundtable discussion with German and European editors-in-chief and their Arab colleagues. And Guest of the Week offers the chance for public figures to come into the studio to discuss current developments in the Arab world.

Deutsche Welle will be attending the Middle East Broadcasting Summit in Dubai from November 21-22, 2011 to present the new line-up from DW-TV ARABIA. The new channel from Deutsche Welle offers Arabic programming in primetime and English programming to complete the channel's 24-hour line-up.
