Dubai (United Arab Emirates): The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has hosted its distinguished cabdrivers in a dinner cruise on board Bateaux yacht up Dubai Creek in keeping with its endeavours to push up cabdrivers' satisfaction rating, and treat them to an entertainment atmosphere to uplift their operational efficiency and accordingly achieve higher customer satisfaction.

Attending the cruise was DTC Fleet Operations Director Yousef Al Ali, Fleet Operations Manager Mohammed Yousef, Marketing & Media Manager Zakia Al Musharrakh, Quality, Health & Safety Office Manager Abdullah Al Farsi and a number of employees from various DTC departments & sections plus a host of male & female cabdrivers.

Commenting on the cruise, DTC Fleet Drivers Affairs Director Ammar bin Tamim, said: "This cruise comes in the context of this year's Operational Plan of Drivers Services Section managed by Ms Amal Mohammed Al Zaraa and the event was interceded by honouring the best female cabdrivers in terms of daily revenue, and a number of distinguished male cabdrivers assessed under Cabdrivers Performance Management System for the 4th Quarter 2010; where cabbies are being honoured on quarterly base under a system for which 2 million dirham are set aside as cash rewards to cabdrivers.

"The Dep't assumes the responsibility of developing Manpower Plan for drivers in coordination with the concerned bodies to attract highly qualified drivers, offer them advanced training and attend to improving their performance, minimizing their negative practices and offering them excellent services that save their time and effort; which will contribute to the revenue generated for the driver as well as the DTC. It also caters to visa and residency affairs in respect of employees and drivers, and applies the approved procedures & policies in the interest of cabbies and the DTC.

"Through its various sections, the Dep't provides comfortable means and amenities to more than 7800 cabbies hailing from 31 nationalities deployed on shifts system. It runs several events and competitions such as football and cricket matches between the teams of franchising companies, and arranges recreational picnics for drivers with the participation of some officials in a bid to cement the relationships between employees and cabdrivers. It also delivers lectures and holds educative programs at the Training & Qualifying Center, and honours cabbies who achieve their targets through giving them prizes, awards and other tools of encouragement to boost their morale.
