Dubai-UAE: 26, December 2011 - Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA), the regulatory body of Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, celebrated its third Annual Excellence Award Night to recognise and reward the achievements of employees.

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DSOA, presented the awards to employees and departments at the gala event that was held at the Monarch Hotel. Senior officials from DSOA and Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA) attended the ceremony.

Dr. Zarooni said: "I am pleased to share that DSO has registered a successful year with outstanding performances across different areas of operation. We have witnessed nearly 80 per cent increase in companies' registration as well as an exponential rise in profits. This achievement is the cumulative effect of the hard work and dedication of each member of the DSOA family.

"I congratulate the winners for their dedication to the organisation. I also trust they will continue to stand out as exemplary role models in the coming year and inspire their colleagues to aspire and work harder to gain the distinction next year."

Launched in 2009, the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority Excellence Awards aims to reinforce DSO's position among the leading technology parks in the region through driving merit among the employees at DSO.

Dr. Zarooni added: "This year's achievements gain more importance as we move closer to our objective of achieving the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) certification. In order to gain the accreditation, each department at DSO has set high standards and improved work efficiency. Moving forward, we are well geared to achieve even greater success and meet our goals through tackling challenges and optimising opportunities."

Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development (R&D) facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
