Advanced Dubai Police Safe City Innovation Center gears up for Expo2020; joint solutions displayed at GITEX show glimpse into the future of public safety

 

Dubai, UAE – October 19, 2016

Dubai Police and Huawei today announced a long-term collaboration to develop and deploy an advanced Safe City Innovation Center for Dubai Police which will be ready ahead of Dubai’s Expo2020 and will embody the latest safe city technologies available in the near future.

Dubai Police and Huawei are showcasing a range of cutting-edge security and law enforcement solutions on both stands, providing GITEX 2016 visitors with a glimpse of how innovation is helping Dubai to become the safest, happiest city on earth.  Dubai Police has employed the latest technologies to ensure the wellbeing of the people of the UAE, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

Dubai Police and Huawei are showcasing four advanced safe city solutions on the Dubai Police stand including advanced facial recognition technology that is able to identify and track people within the systems parameter.  A live demonstration of the system will include tracking GITEX visitors within the exhibition grounds and show key tracking data that includes where the visitor has visited and at what times, data that is critical to law enforcement.

An Augmented Reality (AR) solution and headset like the Hollow Lens from Microsoft will be on also be on display, showcasing how insightful biometric or location data can be layered over objects the user is looking at through the headset.  By seeing through the AR headset, the user receives real-time data on the person or object they are looking at similar to data being fed to a helmet of a fighter jet pilot.

A video content management (VCM) solution will also show how video feed can be automatically analyzed for criminal activity such as unauthorized intrusion and trespass detection, objects being left behind or peoples removing an object as used to secure paintings at galleries and museums. The solutions can also be used for traffic purposes, providing insightful information such as vehicle count on congested road, calculating speed of vehicles, execution of illegal turns or vehicles traveling in the wrong direction, and even detect breakdowns or debris on the road.

With a growing trend in private and commercial drones being deployed globally, an anti-drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) weapon will be on display that is designed to disable drones by firing electronic waves at un-authorized drones.  The weapon uses radar tracking to prevent public safety threats from the air.

As public safety continues to become a priority for global governments, innovative safety solutions such as these are attracting strong interest from the region, particularly with civil and law enforcement departments who are responsible for the management of public safety of its city.
