Dubai, UAE: Following months of anticipation, Dubai Optical Show Vision-X (DOSV-X) finally kicked off at DWTC today as regional and international optical brands, retailers, manufacturers, and suppliers gathered under one roof for the only eyewear and eyecare trade event in the MENA region. DOSV-X 2018 – organized by DV Global Link, a joint venture between Dubai World Trade Centre and Italian Exhibition Group – debuted its new concept, designed with the support of strategic partner ANFAO (Italian Association of Optical Goods Manufacturers), the organiser of MIDO (International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Exhibition). The new concept proved to be a massive success with hugely positive feedback from participants and visitors alike. Two more comprehensive days of business matchmaking await at the definitive B2B platform for the region’s eyewear and eyecare industry, tomorrow from 10am to 6pm and Thursday from 10am to 5pm.
The ceremonial ribbon cutting was attended by His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority; His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre; Valentina Setta, Italian Consul General to Dubai; Marilena Procaccio, Deputy Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency; Guenter Rauer, German Consul General to Dubai; Luca Veronesi, DOSV-X Show Director; and Marco Carniello, Jewellery & Fashion Division Director - Italian Exhibition Group.
New Communities
The exhibition has been divided into five different communities, which are International Village, Design Gallery, Middle East Square, Lenses and Contact Lenses Stage and Healthcare Suppliers. The International Village is the pavilion that exhibits international brands from across the globe, each one positioned with its own stand. Independent designers showcasing their niche and stylish frames will be found at the Design Gallery spot. The Middle East Square comprises of the top-tier producers from the Middle East showcasing the full range of vision-care, eyewear, and ophthalmic lenses market. Lenses and Contact Lenses Stage involves companies known for their extremely high standards of contact lens quality and product choice spanning from lenses in both standard and specialist designs. Finally, Healthcare Suppliers will showcase healthcare companies and experts belonging to eye care and healthcare technology worldwide.
Italian & German Pavilions
The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) has brought a full pavilion of 20 Italian exhibitors to this year’s DOSV-X under the banner ‘Made in Italy’. Additionally, a full pavilion comprising 11 German exhibitors is also participating in this year’s edition of the show, under the banner ‘Made in Germany’, with support from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs & Energy (BMWi).
