Bouquet of In-House Productions to Reflect DMI's Focus on Region-Centric Shows
Dubai-UAE: 1 October, 2009 - Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), one of the pioneering media organizations and creative services group in the Middle East, today announced that Dubai One, the group's free-to-air English-language satellite TV channel, will feature a new programming grid as of the 11th October.
The new grid will focus on local productions, in addition to the new seasons of in-house productions such as Emirates News, Out & About This Week and Bonds for Life.
Reflecting the channel's keenness to cater to a wide variety of contemporary viewers even while giving adequate attention to local sensitivities; It will also focus on offering Dubai residents with rich information on the indigenous culture and heritage landscape. In addition to providing highlights of the city's growth, questions from expatriates on life in the emirate will also be answered.
Najla Al Awadhi, General Manager of Dubai One, unveiled the new grid during a press conference at the DMI Headquarters Training Centre, in the presence of programme presenters, directors, and members of the media from select entertainment publications.
Najla Al Awadhi said: "The new grid of Dubai One will reflect the channel's status as a progressive and much-acclaimed media platform for local, regional and international viewers. In addition, it will strengthen its position as a leading provider of quality programmes. Unlike other English-language channels in the region, Dubai One will offer an extensive bouquet of in-house productions rather than primarily focusing on movies and series.
"We will continue our committed endeavour to offer our viewers the best-ever television viewing experience, as we strive hard to cater to the demands of a discerning audience with our unique and innovative offerings."
On the whole, Dubai One's diverse programming will include coverage of news through shows such as Emirates News and Current Affairs, finance and business with Bonds for Life, lifestyle through Out & About This Week, Dubai 101, Emarati, and, in addition to other drama and comedy shows including Blade, Veronica Mars, West Wing, Third Watch, The Closer, Studio 60, The Class, Twenty Good Years, How I Met Your Mother.
A pioneer in the field of satellite broadcasting in the Arab world, Dubai One also holds the honour of being the first in the region to telecast its programming via satellite to Europe and North America.
