Dubai, September 03, 2009: As a part of a cleanliness drive by Dubai Municipality, the restaurant at IKEA, Dubai Festival City, has been chosen as an example of highest hygiene standards at a restaurant following surprise visits conducted by Municipality inspectors.

Beginning August 2009, Dubai Municipality has launched a large scale food safety initiative called 'Safe Kitchen Initiative' in the UAE. Bobby Krishna, Senior Food Safety Officer, Dubai Municipality was quoted in the media mentioning that this awareness program was specially designed to improve food safety at home as well and will target housewives among others.

Ibrahim Tobar, Senior F&B Assistant - IKEA, believes that the restaurants operating list is possibly stricter than the municipality control list. "We are committed to a stringent set of hygiene requirements and therefore our staff members have the highest standards of appearance and personal hygiene. For example, we are very strict about staff sanitising their hands after a visit to the washroom and insist they wash their hands every one hour in addition to cleaning the equipment regularly."

All members of the IKEA kitchen staff are strongly committed towards providing healthy food that follows from the IKEA culture to provide value for money.

Located in IKEA, the restaurant is a popular one-stop for refreshments, meetings or even breaks from long and tiring shopping schedules. The IKEA restaurant is especially popular for its list of Swedish delicacies as well as its healthy and affordable breakfast.
