in an awards ceremony held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. In the 17
years of Dubai Quality Awards, DMC is the first higher education institution to receive the DQA.
The DQA was presented by H.H. Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
Deputy Ruler of Dubai to H.E. Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and H.E. Eng. Yahya Bin Saeed Al Lootah, Member of Board of Trustees, Dubai Medical College & CEO, S.S. Lootah Group in the presence of top government officials, industry leaders and other special invitees.
H.E. Eng. Yahya Bin Saeed Al Lootah commented: "We are proud to be honored with the prestigious Dubai Quality Award. The award reiterates DMC's commitment to excellence and demonstrates its leadership position in delivering world-class medical education. On behalf of the members of the Board of Trustees of DMC, I would like to dedicate this achievement to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who inspires and drives our pursuit of excellence with his vision, continued support and kind patronage for over 25 years." He added that the achievement is the result of a strategic cooperation between the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and S.S. Lootah Group, a true
model of excellence in public-private partnerships.
DMC's outstanding education standards, benchmarking with world-class institutions, leadership, faculty development programs, innovative curriculum management and adoption of latest technology, broad clinical exposure and focus on sustainability and social responsibility were amongst the several deciding factors that won over the panel at DQA.
"We are confident that DQA will further strengthen DMC's position as a leading academic institution in the region that will be benchmarked for quality and excellence. We are committed
to pursuing highest quality standards to sustain excellence and leadership through new initiatives that will ensure that DMC graduates will contribute to the nation. We will incorporate participation of our graduates who have international experience in education and patient care, gained from working in world-class medical education institutions like John Hopkins, Mayo Clinic and Harvard among others," says Prof. Mohammad Galal El-Din Ahmed, Dean, DMC.
Ever since inception, DMC has undertaken extensive processes to achieve continuous improvement through the adoption of best practices and methods that are deployed systematically and are continuously measured and reviewed. DMC has graduated 896 lady doctors so far, a third of which are Emiratis. In 2006, DMC received the Dubai Quality Appreciation Program.

About Dubai Medical College (DMC)
Dubai Medical College, part of the S.S. Lootah Group, was established in 1986 exclusively for girls by
Haj Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Lootah, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The fact that DMC is solely for girls and that it was started at a time when higher education for girls in the region was lagging far behind than that of the developed countries makes the college very unique even today. The five-year medical course offered by Dubai Medical College is accredited by Ministry of Higher Education, UAE and the United States and General Medical Council, Britain. The college is enlisted in the World Health Organization (WHO) Directory of Medical Schools. The college has a unique arrangement with the Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS), for the students to undergo clinical training at the DOHMS hospitals.
