Dubai - United Arab Emirates, April 20th 2011: The Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Dubai Derma) commenced its second day at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, whereas the second day conversed the updates on the Biologic systemic therapy of Psoriasis, the Cutaneous Adverse Reactions of TNF-Alpha Antagonists, Guidelines for Biologic Therapy in the UAE and the Management of Hyperpigmentation; the Role of Melatonin, Resveratrol and Vitamin C, in addition to other related topics.
Dubai DERMA conference also dedicated a full session for presentations and case reports competition from Rashid Hospital, Twam Hospital and Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre. The Session discussed different cases with a 5000 Dhs award for the best case.
Dr. Anwar Al Hammadi, Consultant Dermatologist and Head of Dermatology at the Dubai Health Authority had a specialized presentation on Psoriasis where explained that "Psoriasis is one the most common skin diseases in the region with a percentage of 1-2% of people struggling with the disease in the world. Many people may not know that the disease has many negative side effects such as the psychological effect and how normally patients isolate themselves from the world. Therefore we are keen to represent all these cases through this professional platform where we will be discussing Biologic Systemic therapy for Moderate to Severe Psoriasis and a review on quality of life faces of Psoriasis and Excimer Laser Treatment for Localized, Recalcitrant Psoriasis."
Dr. Ahmed also mentioned that Psoriasis attacks not only the skin, it also has its effect on the nails, hair and cause arthritis. "Around 30% of Psoriasis patients suffer from the arthritis in addition to the other symptoms. There are more advanced therapeutic methods though, such as the Biologic system therapy and laser. We are also presenting at the end of the session, a protocol on the best practices to use the injections." Continued Dr. Hamadi
