Dubai Customs' final preparations for participating in GITEX 2011 Exhibition have just completed. During the exhibition which will take place at Dubai World Trade Center from October 9th- 13th, 2011, Dubai Customs will showcase some of its E-services and mobile services.
Dubai Customs is keen on introducing a distinguished and efficient contribution in line with the great accomplishments the Department has made in the field of IT internally as well as in the field of establishing solid relations with the clients and the top quality services introduced. A new electronic service with marvelous economic and commercial returns will kick off during GITEX 2011. This service will be directed at first towards key clients and traders, but will later expand to cover as many as possible of the 130 thousand clients dealing with the department.
Moreover, the Department is to showcase its efforts in introducing electronic initiatives, being among the first departments in Dubai to adopt the electronic shift as it has managed to comprehensively introduce all the services electronically since 2008.
Mr. Juma Al Ghaith, Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs stated that the new service launched by the Department during GITEX will represent a major leap especially for the CEOs of other companies as it will save them time and effort made to obtain the required information they seek. He declared details of the new service will be announced during GITEX 2011.
Mr. Al Ghaith added that the mobile phone services have contributed much to reinforcing communication channels between the Department and its clients as well as its strategic partners. These services enable them to learn about the recent activities and services offered by the Department, enquire about the customs declaration status and submit suggestions and complaints round-the-clock.
Dubai Customs considers GITEX Dubai an integrative IT umbrella which is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the most recent IT products in the world. It also offers great potentials for developing the Department's business and updating its modus operandi internally for the employees or in the field of furthering customer relations.
Last year's participation in GITEX 2010 was a big success when the Department managed, on the sidelines of the exhibition, to ink 5 memoranda of understanding with large clients in the trade community. Clients especially courier companies benefited from the Business To Government "B2G" initiative which enabled them to transfer all data electronically from their own systems to Mirsal 2 and complete their transactions and E-payment process directly, easily and on a 24/7 basis. Furthermore, B2G introduced a number of additional advantages such as eliminating any human intervention and the requirement of being present at the Customs counters to process the transactions, automation of joint business procedures with Customs, swift processing of customs declaration clearance, time-saving, cost reduction of customs declaration. The paperless enterprise also enabled the clients to view and tackle customs declarations without having to log in electronically and receive quick notifications about the status of the customs declarations, adding to that, making the utmost benefit from the Department's manpower by assigning Counters' staff to perform other tasks.
