Based on 'Innovative Positive Thinking Skills and Self-Confidence'
Dubai: Within the framework of the Acumen Leadership Skills Assessment Program - 360°, conducted by Dubai Customs for the third consecutive year with aim of enhancing functional and management capacities and skills, two workshops were organized by Dubai Customs, one of these sessions, under theme of 'Self-Leadership Confidence Build-up' was dedicated to the leadership Team, while the other session under theme of 'Innovative Positive Thinking Skills' was introduced to the Senior Functional Category. the sessions were addressed by Prof. Tariq Ali Al-Habeeb- Associate Professor and Consultant Head. Division of Psychiatry- College of Medicine & King Saud Hospital University, KSA the workshop sessions which conducted in Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel were attended by His Excellency- Ahmed Butti Ahmed - Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone & Director General of Dubai Customs along with the attendance of all DC Executive Directors, Senior Managers and 200 employees also attended the events of second day.
Prof. AL-Habeeb in his first lecture explained that the most successful self-confident leader is the one who endeavors to enhance dialogue culture and convey this concept to his employees with aim of ensuring their self-confidence, highlighting that the self-confidence grows as the accumulate experiences increase and this in turn will drive to productivity and successful performance.
Dr. AL-Habeeb in his second day lecture focused his discussion on the importance of Positive Thinking, pointed out that Positive Thinking is a personal interdependent mindset, pattern and absolute powerful positive affirmation in human essence towards the realization of his relationships, success, achievements and ambitions. the more greater individual capacities focused positively on areas of his surroundings, the more easily he can maintain the Positive Thinking Patterns
Positive Attitude is the most valuable and best powerful elements of man and attractive to the attentions of others towards most potential patterns in somebody. he said. a positive thinking in situations and complex problems will always work out to the benefits of person, people around and community in general, in other words, the positive attitude thinker is an innovative and productive person
His Excellency, Ahmed Butti Ahmed expressed his thanks to Prof. Tariq AL-Habee for presenting such valuable lectures to Dubai Customs leadership and employees, assuring good outcomes on building up positive personality that gets benefits to self and from the working team, expressing that the self-confidence and positive look at things will play a vital role in the daily, practical and social life
Ahmed Butti said: the objective of such sessions will enhance the leadership skills at Dubai Customs, develop their capacities towards a greater positive attitude through innovative acquisitive practices. the regular meetings which objectively target the development of leaders will increase the human and social communications amongst members of teams across Dubai Customs and will help an employee acquire behavioral skills that drive him to be a positive and creative in his performance, happy with himself and satisfied with workplace in which he operates
On the other hand, His Excellency Ahmed Butti ensured DC compliance with the implementation of modern administrative methodologies which responsible for the development of performance and functional capacities of all human capital inline with achieving the challengeable strategic objectives, including support of economy and protection of community, besides, the corporate values towards the internal and external customers alike.
Dubai Customs senior management and employees praised these two organized workshops and the positive outcomes they gained to the benefit of their administrative and personal skills as Nadia Abdulla Kamali, Acting Executive director of Human Resources, Finance & Admin, Manager of Risks and Audit Department said: the two organized lectures are useful for building-up the productive positive personality. "self-confidence is an essential part of personality and an effective mechanism for communicating information to working teams, this means, management is closely interlinked with behavior" she explained. such type of behavioural and psychological lectures will teach us how to manage ourselves and team members through identifying their personal styles and will gear us up to develop skills of behaving and deal positively while undergoing pressures" she added.
Mr. Khalifa Abo Jamhour, Director of Human Resources Dept. said: the ends from these two sessions is to convey the self-confidence as acquired by the Executive and Senior Managements to the teams across Dubai Customs. the workshops and training courses that provided to all functional levels at Dubai Customs have several specialized quality courses. he explained. Dubai Customs organized about 353 training courses and attended by 2112 employees during last year and the training hours average for each employee reached to 35hours which considered the highest average of training hours at the level of Dubai government departments as in the other government departments the average is only 15 hours
Mrs. Aisha Majid, Manager of Customs Audit Department spoke about the benefits and the positive behavior of a positive thinker who can easily manage and drive his subordinates for achieving better and improved productivity, alluding to the importance of availability of these elements while dealing with external customers, especially, at Dubai Customs we deal with customers in thousands and each have his own style, thinking and different culture, however, the main common objective of this environmental diversity is to be satisfied with a quality service, this will require the capability of taking the right decisions in different situations, and remove obstacles to bring about a successful performance. she explained.
Mr. Abbas Makki, Director of External Relations Department said: such psychological and behavioral lectures will help in building-up characters. inner peace of mind at workplace is very much required in the administrative environment. All of us must indeed need to understand the personal patterns of his line managers and his workmate to essentially tackle the problems that they may face in their course of work and performance and significantly can improve excellent performance while dealing with our stakeholders. he added.
Mr. Khalil Andraos, Senior Manager of Finance Department spoke about the positive outcomes from workshops in bridging the gap between employees and managers and enhance interpersonal communications amongst them. the positive perspective of a leader along with the involvement of teams in methodologies and targets will bring about valuable gains to the welfare of themselves and the organization to which they belong.
