Hosts 25-member Government delegation headed by H.E. Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister of Macedonia
Dubai, UAE: Exploring possibilities of closer economic cooperation between the business communities of Dubai and Macedonia, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, received a high-level 25-member Government delegation led by H.E. Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister of Macedonia, on Monday at the Chamber head office.
The delegation was received by H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman and Board Members of Dubai Chamber including Essa Abdullah Al Ghurair and Amna Kalfan Al Jallaf, and Atiq Juma Nasib, Senior Vice- President, Commercial Services Sector, Dubai Chamber.
Welcoming the Macedonian delegation, H.E. Al Ghurair, stressed on the importance of enhancing bilateral ties between Dubai and Macedonia, which he said will be further strengthened following this high-profile visit by the country's Prime Minister and his accompanying ministerial delegation.
H.E. Al Ghurair assured the visiting delegation of Dubai Chamber's commitment to provide all possible support to Macedonian investors to enhance their business activities in the emirate as he also lauded the common desire of the two sides to strengthen their economic and trade cooperation for the benefit of the two countries.
Highlighting Dubai's strategic location and its pillars of economic growth including trade, tourism, retail, and financial services, H.E. Al Ghurair, informed that the emirate is an ideal business destination for Macedonian companies, not only for setting up business in Dubai, but also for exploring other emerging markets in the GCC region, Africa and Asia.
He also stressed on the business synergies between Dubai and Macedonia stating that the Chamber is aware of the investment opportunities that Macedonia offers in agro-business and food processing, ICT, textile and clothing and automotive industry which both the sides can explore.
H.E. Al Ghurair pointed out that non-oil trade between Dubai and Macedonia reached AED 23 million in 2014, with imports from Macedonia accounting for close to AED 18 million and this meeting has come at the right time to help increase the trade volume between the two sides in the coming years.
He added that the presence of 33% of Muslims in Macedonia offers ample scope for promoting Islamic economy through Halal food, tourism and hospitality.
On his part, the Prime Minister of Macedonia lauded Dubai Chamber's efforts in hosting the delegation while stressing on his country's desire to enhance mutual cooperation and to look for joint cooperation ventures in mutual areas of interests with their counterparts in the UAE.
