The Chamber is one of 19 finalists in the four categories of the biennial World Chambers Competition
Dubai, UAE: Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry adds another feather to its cap of achievements as it has been nominated for the Best Networking Project at the fourth World Chambers Competition organized by the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF). This global awards programme recognizes the most innovative projects undertaken by chambers of commerce and industry from around the world.
Dubai Chamber was selected by the international judging panel of the biennial World Chambers Competition among 19 other finalists from various global chambers under the four categories of Best Unconventional Project, Best Small Business Project, Best International Project and Best Networking Project that are aimed at stimulating entrepreneurial creativity and inspiring other chambers.
The Competition gives chambers a unique opportunity to showcase originality, demonstrate their resolve to strengthen small- and medium-sized enterprises, and exhibit their innovation in delivering member services for which Dubai Chamber was nominated for hosting the Dubai Hamburg Business Forum second session held in December 2008.
This highly successful networking project, that came as part of the Chamber's objective of providing the best possible business opportunities and services to its members, provided a fitting platform for decision-makers and businessmen from Dubai and Hamburg to meet and exchange information and expertise in the areas of Banking and Finance, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Logistics and Foreign Trade, Energy and Media & IT.
HE Eng Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber informed that the Chamber's participation in the competition is based on the outcome report of its flagship event of the Dubai Hamburg Business Forum where businessmen from both sides got the chance to further solidify their bilateral cooperation ties, network, have panel discussions, field visits and individual business meetings to chart out new areas of joint ventures and business opportunities available in abundance in both the economically thriving cities of the world.
"The value-added services that we offer to our members and the business community in Dubai under our strategic objective of creating a stimulating business environment qualified us for the nomination at the World Chambers Competition. This honour helps us in further consolidating our resolve in providing excellent services to all our stakeholders," said Buamim.
The 2009 edition of the World Chambers Competition attracted 47 entries from 33 countries, including the 19 nominees of the four categories of the awards. Dubai Chamber's nomination as Best Networking Project comes along that of Konya Chamber of Industry, Turkey; Serbia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
All finalists will be invited to present their projects to the international judging panel at the 6th World Chambers Congress in Kuala Lumpur, to be held from June 3 to 5. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony on the last day of the Congress.
