Wins Distinguished Government Agency, Best Result in Employee Satisfaction and Best Result in Customer Satisfaction categories at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme awards 2009
Dubai, UAE: Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry added yet another feather in its cap of achievements as the organization has been honoured with three excellence awards including Distinguished Government Agency, Best Result in Employee Satisfaction and Best Result in Customer Satisfaction categories at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme 2009. HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, presented the Awards to HE Eng Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, at the awards presentation ceremony held at Madinat Arena in Dubai on Monday.
Said Buamim, "This honour consolidates the status of Dubai Chamber as a world-class organisation as it has proved itself in offering value-added services to its customers under its mission of representing, supporting and protecting the interests of the business community in Dubai while enhancing the performance of the organization under its strategic objectives of creating a favourable business environment, supporting the development of business and promoting Dubai as an international business hub."
On its part, the Chamber facilitated trading activities by introducing new initiatives of reaching out to emerging markets of the world and by enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai businesses through networking meetings with their global counterparts. The Chamber was elected the guarantor of ATA Carnet system by the UAE Customs and the UAE Federation of Chambers and has been bestowed with the Vice Chair's seat by the World Chambers Federation which will enhance its role in offering world-class services to its stakeholders. The Chamber also offered various electronic services to its customers and was the first to initiate the Arabic guidelines of the Certificates of Origin. The Chamber's customer satisfaction went up by 88% hence the Best Results in Customers Satisfaction Award.
Dubai Chamber's ranking in employee satisfaction up scaled from 13th to 1st in the last three years. The Chamber created a healthy work environment for its employees as it retrofitted its building with state-of-the-art furniture and provided recreational facilities for its employees as well as introduced various internal excellence programmes including Employee of the Month scheme.
The Dubai Government Excellence Programme is intended to upgrade performance of the public sector and to enable it to keep pace with developments in the administrative and technical fields. This includes adoption of advanced administrative concepts, development of resources, simplification of procedure and encouragement of staff's creative and innovative spirit. Under this programme, Dubai's various departments participate in a positive competition in which they are awarded for being the most efficient department, the best staff and the most creative administrative and technical experiments.
