Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 18 January 2010: Dubai British School, a Taaleem school, which follows the National Curriculum (England), has earned the prestigious CIS accreditation for its primary and secondary levels.

The Council of International Schools (CIS) is the premier organisation in International Education for the accreditation of schools and Best Practice development. CIS is a non-profit organisation of a worldwide international educational community comprising over 650 member schools and 450 colleges and universities.

In the words of the CIS report, staff at Dubai British School (DBS) were commended "for their impressive work ethic and positive attitude whilst undergoing more than one rigorous evaluation within a short period of time." Furthermore, in the school community the CIS visitors found a "collegial atmosphere that pervaded throughout, linking students, teachers, parents and administrators."

Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, self evaluation and team visits. Proud Principal of DBS, Andy Homden said "Our success is the result of the hard work of a dedicated and talented staff, who have pulled out all the stops over the last two years to take the school forward."

The CIS central purpose is to enable member organisations to achieve and deliver the highest standards in International Education and continually improve the outcome of student learning.  "The CIS accreditation has therefore enabled us to validate our current performance against rigorously designed benchmarks which are both local and international" commented Andy.

CIS accreditation is a long term exercise and a process that focuses on continual improvement for the benefit of the school's students. Whilst commending DBS, the CIS visiting team also gave in depth feedback and recommendations for still further improvement in the short and the long term. CEO of Taaleem, Mr. Ziad Azzam applauded all those involved and said "by achieving CIS accreditation we have been able to satisfy some of the most demanding standards in the world that international schools can be asked to meet. This achievement positions DBS among a select group of outstanding schools in the region."
