Muscat 28th June 2014: : Dr.Amer bin Awad Al Rawas ,CEO of Omantel was recognized as the best transformation leader by Alam al IqtisadWa al Aamal (AIWA) magazine. The awards, covering a range of categories, were distributed in a special gala that was dedicated for recognizing the Omani's best performing companies and individuals in 2013.

The Award comes in recognition of Dr. Amer efforts and achievements to integrate the mobile and business operations of Omantel and creating a single unified culture for the business which led to enhancement of the customer experience as well as maintaining Omantel leadership of the telecom market in the Sultanate.

The recognition comes also as a result of Dr. Amer relentless efforts to embed sustainability in Omantel operations in addition to the Company's economic, social and environmental contributions.

Commenting on the winning, Dr. Amer Al Rawas said "The winning of this Award puts extra responsibility on us to maintain the high of performance in order to meet the expectations of different stakeholders. The last five years were full of challenges for the Company either in the regulatory environment and the market conditions as well as ensuring Omantel readiness to cope with the changing dynamics. We were keen to ensure that Omantel is always prepared for such challenges and therefore embarked on a major integration project of our mobile and fixed operations project which was crowned with the full legal merger of mobile operations with fixed operations into one legal entity."

"The success of the project has not been impossible without dedicated efforts of our employees and the support and cooperation of different stakeholders including our shareholders and Board of Directors which was crowned by the full legal merger of Oman Mobile into Omantel" Al Rawas further explained.

"As we look back into the achievement made, we remain ambitious and ready for the next phase of Omantel journey into excellence by ensuring a sustainable growth for Omantel therefore meeting the expectations of our stakeholders. Our focus will be to further embed sustainability into every part of our operations, a journey that started two years back", Dr. Amer concluded.

It is worth mentioning that last year, Omantel has been awarded as Best Corporate Citizen of the year in recognition of Omantel´s efforts to support sustainable growth and in particular its societal support to education, culture, sport, and technology sectors. Dr.Amer Al Rawas has as well been awarded the Most Outstanding Corporate Leader of the year.
