Mexican aspirations for benchmarking studies with UAE companies through universities

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - November 23, 2011:  Dubai Quality Group (DQG) concluded its successful participation in the "3rd International Quality Conference" and the "5th International Congress on Quality" in Mexico, where Eng. Maryam Ali Saeed Al-Thani Al-Falasi, Secretary-General, DQG, represented the UAE as a keynote speaker at the conferences.

After her return from Mexico, Eng. Al-Falasi, who is also Project Manager, DUCAB, expressed admiration for the activities, themes and topics that the conferences dealt with. She said that the attendees were amazed by the presentations given during both events, including facts and figures about Dubai and the UAE. They were also pleasantly surprised after learning about the status of women in the UAE, she said.

Eng. Al-Falasi said that quality has become a cultural feature and a lifestyle essential in the UAE, and the government supported this trend in various ways, especially in the education field. She noted that many Mexican educational institutions which were present at the conferences, showed willingness to cooperate with UAE universities in the areas of research and training, and for conducting benchmarking studies between Mexican and Emirati companies. This will be through DQG, she said.

The title of Al-Falasi's presentation was "Innovation through Excellence in Business", where the city of Dubai was taken as an urban/metropolitan model. Al-Falasi talked about the Dubai awards, and explained how companies competed to win awards like Dubai Quality Award and Dubai Human Development Award, among others.

The "3rd International Quality Conference" had the slogan "Quality: The Key to Success." It was held at the University of Celaya in Celaya, Mexico. The DQG's participation in both conferences was admired and closely followed by many participants, especially regarding the "quality experience" that is applied at the level of the emirate of Dubai, the UAE and the region. She said it was a role model in many of its features.

During the Q&A session, the audience asked Eng. Al-Falasi on the ways Emiratis pursued the culture of quality in Dubai, and the way women are represented in the UAE. She spoke about the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in particular, and the vision of the UAE in general. She also explained how Dubai and the UAE succeeded and has emerged to become a leading light among nations.
