Four DMC Toastmasters attended the District Toastmasters Annual Conference in Bahrain on May 23-24, 2008. Rashid Al Maftoul, Mohsen Al Awadhi, Wahid Ibrahim, Saoud Al-Mudharreb and faculty member Christine Coombe represented the DMC club at the championships. Current Club President and the incoming Asst. Area Governor Marketing, Rashid Al Maftoul, carried the club banner during the banner parade. In addition to seeing the District finalists in the Table Topics, Humorous Speech and International Speech contests, the students heard plenary lectures by Albert Mensah and Dr. Talal Abu Ghazaleh. According to incoming Club President, Mohsen Al Awadhi, the most valuable aspect of DTAC was the educational sessions, particularly the panel discuss on "Exploring Success". Saoud Al-Mudharreb had this to say about DTAC, "the event was marvelous and it allowed us to see and hear world-class speakers". He added: "we now have a much better idea of what we need to work towards for next year's conference in Abu Dhabi." Wahid Ibrahim, a new DMC Toastmasters club member, was particularly entertained by the humorous speech contest and mini workshop on how to add humor into speeches. According to Wahid, "I learned a lot about how important humor is in our presentations."
