As part of promoting and supporting sustainability in the developmental process, Dubai Municipality, represented by environment department has organized a forum for the representatives of industries functioning in Dubai, recently.
The forum, which was titled as 'Towards Environmentally Sustainable Industrial Development' was held at Al-Bustan Rotana.
The forum was attended by Eng. Salem Mismar, Assistant Director General, Eng. Hamdan Al-Shaer, Director of Environment Department and representative of several industries.
Dr. Santhosh Kumar, Principal Officer at environmental control section of the department presented a paper on hazardous waste transport in Dubai.
In his paper Dr. Santhosh handled various topics related to hazardous waste transport requirements, permitting procedures and on cases of illegal disposal and transport.
In the second presentation, Eng. Ahmed Al-Jasmi, head of environment planning &studies section discussed on various aspects of the topic 'Dubai waste policy & strategy'
Mr. Michael Wunsch, Managing Director, Barakat Quality Plus L.L.C spoke on 'Challenges and Success in Environmental Compliance - An Industrial Perspective' in which he shared experience of industry that implemented various environment friendly methods and projects.
In the end, the industries that excelled in implementing environmental rules and regulations were honoured and awarded with certificates and trophies.
