DHA to begin healthcare inspections using I-phone and I-pad applications in future.
United Arab Emirates, Dubai, February 15, 2012: The Dubai Health Authority received 32,000 online applications for healthcare licenses, said a top DHA official.
Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, Director of DHA Health Regulation said, "Since the launch of the online licensing system known as Sheryan, few months ago, we have seen in a surge in the number of applicants who are using the electronic method to apply for a license.
"The new system provides healthcare facilities, investors and healthcare professionals a completely online application system and facilitates a completely paperless environment."
Ibrahim said currently the licensing system is applicable for 117 specialities and the DHA plans to double the specialities available online by 2013.
Ibrahim said for the health sector this is a significant leap of progress and will facilitate further investment in healthcare in Dubai. "Today, a doctor or a healthcare professional can apply to practice in the Emirate of Dubai from any part of the world through this system.
This system will definitely provide an impetus to investment in the sector and is of great convenience to healthcare professionals.
For instance, an investor who has established a new hospital in Dubai would require 200-300 nurses. He no longer needs to bring the nurses to Dubai and apply for their license, the nurses can apply for the license online from their home country-this saves time, money and makes the process very simple.
Prometric is the company we have selected for providing us with this facility and they have 300 health centres located across 130 different countries where potential candidates can apply from, so it's a great benefit for someone looking to work in the health sector in Dubai."
Ibrahim said in future, the DHA will use online services for health inspections as well. "In the near future, DHA health regulation inspections will issue fines and register violations on health facilities online. Health inspectors will be able to do this using an I-phone or I-pad applications and we will inform the facilities through the online system."
