Dubai, UAE, 16 May 2013: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received 47,541 bids from suppliers since the launch of its Supplier Relationship Management application (SAP SRM) in early 2012.
These applications provide a modern way to coordinate all DEWA's business applications relating to its main suppliers, making them more efficient. DEWA is also now able to improve its purchasing strategy by handling largest numbers of suppliers in the shortest possible time and as efficiently as possible.
This new initiative is in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish an effective and balanced electronic infrastructure, as well as adopt the latest technologies and solutions to support the e-government strategy, supported by the government of the UAE, and DEWA is continuously developing its processes to improve customer satisfaction through excellence in providing customer services.
"DEWA adopts an integrated strategy to stimulate and implement new ideas, best practices and international standards. To become a sustainable world-class utility, we focus on a long-term strategy to promote excellence and innovation, and contributing to the social, economic, and environmental development of Dubai, to achieve the Emirate's vision. This is reflected in the activation of SAP SRM by DEWA, which aims to create more opportunities effectively, enabling our suppliers to register electronically. We are committed to the implementation of applications that enhance efficiency," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
"Through this application, we have made significant strides in simplifying our procedures, by diversifying and updating our channels of communications with our suppliers. These procedures highlight DEWA's efforts to uphold best service practices, thus contributing to the creation of a nurturing workplace environment that supports our long-term development plan," added Al Tayer.
The SAP SRM application allows DEWA's key stakeholders to register online as official suppliers, view available tenders, submit their bids, approve purchase orders, and remain informed on the status of shipments. DEWA has released 10,249 bid invitations to date through its e-portal.
