Motor-sports theme in mall décor and promotion impresses "Mystery Shopper" judges
Dubai, UAE - Deira City Centre has once again come up triumphant in the annual awards that celebrate the highlights of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) 2008. The popular mall walked away with this year's DSF Innovation Award for Best Shopping Mall Promotion, which offered one lucky shopper the opportunity to win a pair of 'His & Hers' Limited-Edition Corvettes.
Receiving the award at a special ceremony held at Raffles Hotel, Mr. Fuad Al Najjar, Vice President of Deira City Centre, expressed his delight at the recognition of his mall's promotion. "I would like to thank the DSF Supreme Committee and the shoppers for selecting us for the award. It is indeed a privilege to win this esteemed recognition," Al Najjar added.
Sponsored by DU, the promotional campaign that secured this year's award for the mall centred on the concept of a shopper being able to win two stunning performance sports cars. The cars were two of just 399 available across the world.
During this Shopping Festival Deira City Centre chose motor-sports as its central theme for all its mall activities. Even the advertising campaign, "Make a fashion pit stop", was in keeping with the theme, effectively blending with the Centre's position as a mid-market fashion hub.
The DSF Innovation Awards are aimed at recognising and rewarding the initiatives of the private sector for its innovative marketing ideas and campaigns for DSF; something that contributes to the overall success of the festival. The categories include; Best Shopping Mall Promotion, Best Shopping Mall Décor, Best Shopping Mall Event, Best Retail Promotion and Outstanding Customer Service. Evaluation for each was based on reports submitted by 'Mystery Shoppers,' which ensures anonymity and impartiality.
Deira City Centre has been a key sponsor for DSF throughout its 12 years. The mall, which has over 370 stores and attracts over 21 million visitors a year, has triumphed in the Festival's Innovation Awards in the past. It received the accolade of Best Mall Promotion following DSF 2005 and was awarded Best Mall Décor for DSF 2004. The Centre also won the Best Shopping Mall Promotion awards in 1996 and 2000.
