The Automated Frequency Management System (AFMS) to be launched on January 1, 2017, through the e-Spectrum Services Portal
Doha: The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) will launch the new Automated Frequency Management System (AFMS) on January 1, 2017 with the strategic objective of digitizing the application process for spectrum users in the State of Qatar. Users will be able to submit their spectrum license requests online through a new e-Spectrum Services Portal, paving way for a smooth digital experience.
By bringing this process online, CRA intends to provide tangible benefits to all existing licensees or future spectrum users. Users will be able to submit applications for issuing, modifying, or canceling their spectrum licenses. They will also be able to view active licenses, track submitted applications, register radio network / area deployments, view invoices and make online payments.
“CRA encourages all spectrum users in Qatar to create an account in the portal to manage their licenses more efficiently. To ensure a smooth transition, if you face any technical difficulty in submitting requests online, CRA may accept submissions manually till March 31, 2017,” said Faisal Al-Shuaibi, CRA’s Official Spokesperson. “However, after March, all requests must be submitted online,” he added.
The AFMS is designed with consideration to international standards, and will play an important role in efficient management of the radio frequency spectrum in Qatar. Through the new system, CRA intends to enhance the existing application process, and align its services with the Qatar Digital Government initiative.
To benefit from the features, spectrum users should create an account using the e-Spectrum Services Portal accessible at https://e-spectrum.cra.gov.qa.
Each applicant can only register one account and once the approval is obtained, users can collect the license from CRA offices in Al Nassr Tower B, Al Corniche Street. For clarifications and more information, applicants may contact CRA at spectrumaffairs@cra.gov.qa
