Corniche Hospital joined thousands of companies around the world in celebrating International Customer Week last week to display its proud commitment to Customer Service and honor the staff that serves its patients.

The Hospital kicked off the week by holding an all day event in their main lecture room.  All staff were invited to participate in interactive exercises, quizzes and games to emphasize the Service Excellence hospital standards of behavior, CARE = C (communicate),A (anticipate) R (respect) E (engage).  Staff received recognition, prizes, and flowers and dates throughout the day.  The hospital also honored its patients.  All patients also received flowers and dates, along with an information packet about the hospital and how to contact a patient affairs representative.

Bassam Sayad, chief operating officer at Corniche Hospital said, "This is one of the most important weeks for our Hospital.  By participating, we boost morale, motivation, and teamwork.  This is an opportunity to reward the frontline staff for their contribution all year, and thank departments for their support.  In addition, costumers who see our banners, posters, and our activities marking the week are reminded of our commitment to patient satisfaction".

The program for the remainder of the week included presenting awards to staff who have gone the extra mile to provide excellent internal and /or external customer service, rewarding presentations from managers of each department on a plan to improve their areas, recognition for the ward or department who receive the highest patient satisfaction rates, and attending the Customer Service Week conference at the Sheraton, Abu Dhabi on the 4th and 5th.  The Hospital also continued to hold its monthly scheduled Service Excellence Training for new staff and a refresher for all existing staff.

The week's activities were lead by Dolly El Ghadban, Director of Patient Relations Service Excellence project leader, who said, "Corniche Hospital is proud of its Service Excellence program, which 100% of staff members have completed. Launched last year, this on-going program is a component of Corniche Hospitals patient- and family-centered approach to care that formally trains staff members on CARE standards of customer service".

Corniche Hospital is managed by Johns Hopkins Medicine International and owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA).  Each year, about 9,000 babies are born in Corniche Hospital.  More than 250,000 babies have been born there since the hospital opened in 1979.
