Zamil Air Conditioners (ZAC), a leading international manufacturer of air conditioning systems and Number 1 in the Middle East, has been awarded the contract to supply its Cooline air conditioning solutions for Y K A Almoayyed Tower, the tallest building in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The components of the Cooline solution - ZAC’s international flagship brand - includes the supply of Chilled Water Fan Coil Units and Chilled Water Air Handling Units, which provide a capacity of 2,100 Tr creating an ambient year-round temperature controlled climate throughout the 47-storey structure, which stands more than 200 metres in height.

”From the outset it was imperative that only high quality components would be selected for the electromechanical services aspect of the Tower’s infrastructure, and Cooline was the only supplier who could meet our stringent technical specifications, as well as deliver according to strict time constraints,” said M T Mathews, Chief Executive Officer of Almoayyed Contracting Group.

The efficiency of the cooling system is assured by splitting the HVAC system into two vertical halves and by utilising a primary, secondary and tertiary pump system with plate type heat exchangers.  A special ducting system has also been installed in the tower and for the first time in Bahrain, this comprises pre-insulated polyisocyanurate rather than conventional galvanised iron ducting.

“Unique technical features of this landmark project include the use of the high efficiency recovery wheels of the Heat Recovery Units to pre-cool incoming fresh air, and the solution also incorporates Heat Pipes in the Air Handling Units to recover dissipated energy and de-humidify incoming air,” said Naweid Sidiqqui, Cooline Country Manager, Bahrain.  “The Fan Coil Units were selected to allow for maximum cooling under high static, and the overall solution more than adequately meets low noise level requirements.”

“To ensure stringent standards were met, this solution was put through exhaustive tests at ZAC’s Dammam based US$ 10 million state-of-the art Air Conditioning Technology Centre (ATC).  This facility is unique in the Middle East and enables the guarantee of local and international certifications, and it supports research and development activities,” added Shaker Almoussa, General Manager, Cooline.

“Cooline offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of air conditioning equipment available, with the ultimate combination of energy saving design, superior engineering features and application flexibility demanded by today’s international markets,” added Mr Almoussa.

“The professional credentials and the reliability of the products offered by Cooline made it the obvious choice to satisfy our requirements for this prestigious building, which is being equipped with the most modern facilities complying with internationally accepted standards,” added Mr Mathews.

Cooline remains active in winning new prestigious projects in the GCC and internationally.  Most recently it has been commissioned to provide split and ducted split air conditioning solutions for the landmark City Commercial Centre in Salalah, Oman.  “Another major breakthrough for the Cooline brand has been the implementation of solutions for Dean Trade Center, the largest shopping mall in Pakistan, as well as for Pakistan Tobacco Company; a contract to equip one of the tallest towers with DX ducted systems at Al Ghafly Towers in Sharjah, UAE; and our recent achievement is to supply air conditioning solutions for the new headquarters of Ahli United Bank in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” added Balazs Garamvolgyi, Brand Manager, Cooline.
