Doha, Qatar - Following a successful first school year, Compass International School Doha (CISD) welcomes its new Head Teacher, set to establish the school as the number one learning focused school in Qatar.
The new Head Teacher, John Todd, joins the school at the start of the next academic year in August 2007, although he has already made the first of a number of visits. Mr. Todd comes to CISD with broad international experience that fits perfectly with CISD's vision of being Qatar's leading international school.
Dennis Hallahane, CEO of WCLS, the international group that owns and operates CISD, said "CISD has grown rapidly since it was established in September last year. The guidance and determination of our Start-up Head Teacher, Rob Owens, has led the school through a challenging first year with astounding success, placing CISD on Qatar's education map. As we continue to grow and cater to a growing number of students, we are very honoured to welcome CISD's new head teacher. With his vast and unique international experience we are sure that he will greatly contribute to the continued success of CISD".
As an international educator, Mr. Todd has worked in schools around the world for more than 15 years. Beginning as a Primary School Teacher and Administrator in the United Kingdom, he later worked in Singapore and Kenya before moving to Lagos in August 2001.
Mr Todd comes to CISD from Greensprings School in Lagos, Nigeria, where he served as Head of School and Director of Education for 6 consecutive years. Under his leadership, the school grew from 451 pupils, in 2001, to more than 991 pupils today.
"Having spent the last 15 years in the international teaching environment, I know that CISD will continue to grow and provide students and parents with the perfect international education partner that will establish many successful careers. I am truly looking forward to the opportunity to continue to promote CISD's philosophy by providing children with an environment to not only learn but enjoy the process of learning," Mr. Todd commented.
CISD expects to begin the new school year with around 100 children who will enjoy the school's personalised teaching and learning style, an International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and a team of qualified teachers who have experience from a variety of school systems around the world.
