01 October 2009
USAN Gabon is pleased to announce the official commercial launch of its GSM mobile network operation under the brand name Azur.

The days ahead will witness greater visibility for the Azur brand, as well as the deployment of Azur sales distribution networks. Our SIM cards and recharge cards will be available at the usual points of sales for mobile networks.

Azur network is currently deployed in Libreville with more than 35 radio sites. Within the next few weeks, we will be announcing the official launch of the Port Gentil and Franceville network coverage, and by end-2009, the network coverage will expand to reach Lambarane, Oyem, Mouila, Moanda, Nzomitang, Lastrouville, Ntoum, Kangoleu, Frouplace, Benguire and Nkogue.

The official commercial launch of the Azur network is an opportunity for us to share our value proposition for the pre-paid market.

Per-second billing for all, as of the first second

We offer innovative billing methods to all pre-paid customers: calls are charged by the second, as of the first second.

Call charges in FCFA (all taxes included) are as follows:

2 FCFA per second for calls within the Azur network

3 FCFA per second for calls made to other national networks (fixed or mobile)

3 FCFA per second for calls made to international destinations in Zone 1, which comprises more than 30 countries that account for the bulk of outgoing international calls from Gabon:

  • Countries belonging to CEMAC: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo-Brazaville, Equatorial Guinea and Chad

  • Other African countries: South Africa, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo

  • Other countries: Germany, England, Belgium, Canada, China, United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon, USA, and the Netherlands

    • 4 FCFA per second for calls made to international destinations in Zone 2, which includes all the other countries not mentioned in Zone 1.

Our SMS offering is also very competitive:

    • SMS to any Azur number - 15 FCFA per SMS (all taxes included)

    • SMS to other national networks - 30 FCFA per SMS (all taxes included)

    • SMS to international destinations - 60 FCFA per SMS (all taxes included)

Few examples to illustrate the advantages of per-second billing
Not only does Azur's per-second billing model allow customers the advantage of paying only for what they use, it also represents the most competitive offer in the pre-paid market even on a minute-by-minute basis.

To demonstrate the above, our subscribers will receive a free SMS from Azur after each call, informing them about call duration and cost.

Example of a call made from Azur to Azur: the rate is 2 FCFA per second, from the first second.

    • If the call lasts 1 second, it will be billed at 2 FCFA

    • If the call lasts 10 seconds, it will be billed at 20 FCFA

    • If the call lasts 30 seconds, it will be billed at 60 FCFA

    • If the call lasts 1 minute (60 seconds), it will be billed at 120 FCFA

The same principle applies to all destinations, as the subscriber is always billed by the second. With Azur, you have the opportunity to benefit from the entire credit that you purchase.

An exceptional introductory offer, flexible and simple validities

As an introductory offer to commemorate our commercial launch, Azur is offering SIM cards for 1000 FCFA (all taxes included), with an initial credit of 1000 FCFA. This offer is valid until 30th of November.

The available denominations for recharge cards are: 500 FCFA, 1000 FCFA, 5000 FCFA, and 10000 FCFA, with 90 days validity.

Azur's offer is flexible. The line is active for 90 days as long as you make/send or receive a call or an SMS.
