Several officials of Consolidated Gulf Co. (CGC), the largest Telecom and IT solution provider as well as the biggest retailer of mobile phones in Qatar, participated in a four-day project management training to keep themselves well-equipped and up-to-date with latest techniques and skills at Syscoms Information Technology premises in Doha recently. The officials included Dileep Kumar, Senior Manager - Business Development, Nitin Ghuliani, Project Manager - IT Solutions & Services, Sheetal D. Sawant of Enterprise Solutions Division, Hashim Mohammed and Vipul Gupta of Telecom Division and Parshant Sandhu from TETRA Division. The training was imparted by Abrachan Pudusserry, a highly acclaimed expert on project management issues.
The training programme was fully compliant with the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) of the Project Management Institute (PMI) of the USA. Its main objectives included making the CGC personnel efficient to independently initiate a project, plan project work, develop project schedules, cost estimates and budgets, plan project quality, staffing and communications, analyse project risks and plan project procurement as well. The training session provided an intense and interactive learning environment featuring case studies, lectures, readings, group discussions and course-end simulated exam. It also strived to weave in the experiences of the participants. It included the project management processes from initiation to planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing of a project, besides detailing on integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk and procurement to name a few.
