Cairo, - The Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in collaboration with Baianat IP, celebrated the World Intellectual Property Day. The conference, held at the premises of the Arab League’s General Secretariat in Cairo, is titled “Intellectual Property & SMEs: actualize your ideas in the market”. It witnessed various discussions on intellectual property’s prominence for SMEs, promoting its products’ value and competitiveness.
Dr. Maha Bekheet, the head of the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit of the League of Arab States, said: "SMEs are the cornerstone of social and economic development, creating several job opportunities as a significant solution for unemployment. With knowledge and awareness, Intellectual property can be a powerful tool that leads to optimizing start-ups and maximizing their profitability.”

Building on the SMEs law 152 of 2020, offering various incentives for entrepreneurs, we seek identifying the best procedures to be adopted by SMEs concerned with intellectual property.”
The ceremony was attended by intellectual property officials and researchers from Egypt & other Arab countries. The sessions were introduced by leaders in the field, including Dr. Mahmoud Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Heba Mostafa, Director of Innovation & Technology Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Maged Ghoneima, Manager of ASU Innovation Hub.
