Oman, October 20, 2008: Setting a new standard in energy-efficient cooling, Carrier Corp., a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), is introducing its latest innovative chiller range -- the Aquaforce™ 30XA -- in Oman. The Aquaforce™ chiller with screw compressors uses non-ozone depleting refrigerant HFC 134a that prevents further deterioration of the Earth's ozone layer. In tests, Aquaforce™ achieved record part-load seasonal energy efficiencies `IPLV' of 0.76 kW/ton (4.6 kW/kW) on average.

Ali El Zein said that the launch of Aquaforce™ 30XA is part of Carrier's plan to advance the air-conditioning sector in Oman. The Aquaforce™ 30XA includes a unique microchannel heat exchanger which enables it to operate with up to 30 percent less refrigerant.
Elaborating further, Pierre Crevat, marketing manager for Carrier Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, "Aquaforce™ 30XA is remarkably well suited to the region's extreme climatic conditions. Its introduction in other GCC countries last year met with phenomenal response from end users, consultants and contractors. In addition to its superior energy saving features, the Aquaforce™ 30XA chiller offers greater durability and low noise."
Crevat added, "The unique micro-channel coil technology has been widely used in the automotive industry for many years, but this is the first time it has been applied in large chillers. Shown to increase heat transfer efficiency, the all-aluminum, brazed construction coils provide enhanced reliability through improved corrosion resistance."
The Aquaforce™ 30XA range of chillers with screw compressors is available in 20 sizes with capacities ranging from 75 tons to 475 tons (270 kW to 1.7 MW), offering customers the widest range of high efficiency air-cooled chillers.
