Cairo, Egypt: Carrefour, operated in Egypt by Majid Al Futtaim, has responded to the catastrophic incident that rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The brand launched a region-wide donation initiative to provide essential aid to those who need it. Working alongside the Egyptian Red Crescent, Carrefour Egypt joined forces with Carrefour Lebanon to collect, donate and distribute all-important contributions through a variety of channels, including facilitating customer donations.

Until the end of September, Carrefour customers will be given the opportunity to donate to the Egyptian Red Crescent’s “Rest of Pound” initiative at all Carrefour hypermarkets across Egypt. These donations will help to support those affected by the 4 August blast in Beirut.

Donation booths and checkout collection points will be installed in all Carrefour stores. Customers can also buy a digital voucher online via https://www.carrefouregypt.com/p/534789, with the voucher value used by the Egyptian Red Crescent to purchase essential supplies for victims of the Beirut tragedy.

The multi-channel initiative emphasizes Majid Al Futtaim and Carrefour’s roles as community builders, encouraging a spirit of generosity during this critical time. In addition to this initiative, Carrefour Egypt donated over 10 tons of essentials supplies, including textiles and food items such as flour, to victims of the Beirut blast that was successfully distributed by the Egyptian Red Cross.

Majid Al Futtaim was one of the first respondents to offer help to the affected people of Beirut through Carrefour Lebanon, by providing food and essential supplies to NGOs supporting victims and participating in the mass cleaning effort of the city.
