The Lost Paradise of Dilmun will add significant value to Al Areen, which is being developed with the active support of the Government of Bahrain. Designed to showcase Bahrain's long and rich history, The Lost Paradise of Dilmun is located at the northern end of the Al Areen development. It is one of the more prominent locations within the development adding greater value to this unique recreational venue. Spread on 77,000 square metres, the water park is adjacent to the shopping mall complex within Al Areen, a luxurious five-star hotel as well as the Al Areen Wildlife Sanctuary.
Upon completion in early 2006, the total built up area of The Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park will cover more than 45,000 square metres, and is estimated to attract over 200,000 visitors per year. Additionally, over 35,000 square metres have been earmarked for future expansion and car parking.
The water park is designed to enhance the contours of the existing hilly terrain adjacent to the Al Areen Wildlife Sanctuary, infusing it with historically symbolic structures and motifs. The differentiating components of the water park include a 300-metre long lazy river encircling a giant wave pool that features a sandy shore. The river will also act as a navigation path through the entire water park. It will flow through a series of themed secret tunnels lined with wall paintings, ancient artefacts, treasures, and the accompaniment of state-of-the-art sound and visual effects.
