Hood Hashim, Senior Manager Information Systems at Bahrain Islamic Bank (BIsB), first Islamic bank in Bahrain, has successfully obtained his Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom.
Commending on this achievement, BIsB's Senior Manager Human Resources and Services, A. Hameed Yousif Alhammadi, said "Working for obtaining a master degree, requires great investment of time, effort and concentration. However, for a staff, any staff, to get it without having his/her performance negatively affected is something really showing an extraordinary dedication".
"To obtain such a high qualification at the same time of working diligently and participating actively in promoting the Bank's business is in itself special dedication by Hood" Mr. Alhammadi continued.
In the course of pursuing his study, Hood presented several essays on Islamic banking and management. The title of his thesis was "The Impact of the Various Leadership Styles Applied by Branch Managers on the Performance of Employees". It was to a large extent a case study of the BIsB.
Hood, who is currently responsible for the Bank's Information Systems Management and for initiating plans for the BIsB's higher management, has said: "I am very grateful to the Management of Bahrain Islamic Bank for their unlimited support to me for both financing my study and also for allowing me to enroll for this certificate. Also, would like to thank them for the support of the employees who aspire to pursue higher academic studies that will reflect on the employee's performance and on the promotion of the Bank's general operations".
"My study for the master degree and the thesis has given me more confidence and broader knowledge about several functions of the Bank, and I am determined to put what I have comprehended into practice for the benefit of the Bank".
Hood holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM) of Saudi Arabia. He graduated in 1989 and joined the Bank in 2000.
BIsB allocate a huge training budget for training and developing all employees locally and overseas too where a female employee of the Bank is currently on a full time course in the United Kingdom to obtain a master degree.
It is worth to mention that BIsB hold the highest percentage of Bahrainisation among all banks in Bahrain reaching up to 98%.
