Financial collaboration between the two countries discussed during visit

The Bahrain Financial Exchange (BFX), the first multi-asset exchange in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, yesterday welcomed His Excellency Enrico Padula, the Ambassador of Italy for the Kingdom of Bahrain, to the BFX.

Upon arrival, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Milena Padula, His Excellency was received by Senior BFX officials led by Arshad Khan, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of the BFX and the BCDC. "We are honored to welcome His Excellency to the BFX and thank him for the opportunity to introduce the BFX's products and services to financial corporations in Italy with a view to initiating mutually beneficial relationships between the two countries" said Mr. Khan.  "We believe our internationally accessible multi-asset exchange platform and market tested products present ample opportunities to build relationships between Italy and the MENA region as a whole."

The visit commenced with a presentation given by Mr. Khan which provided a brief introduction to the BFX and its vision and highlighted its strategic plans. After the presentation, the two parties engaged in an open discussion on the current and future outlook regarding financial markets in the MENA region and explored possible means of collaboration between the two countries.

Commenting on his visit, H.E. Enrico Padula remarked, "I am delighted to be here at the BFX which I consider to be a true pioneer in the financial sector. My primary objective for this visit is to identify and expand economic ties between Italy and the Kingdom of Bahrain. We look forward to progressing the mutually beneficial propositions discussed today, and I wish the BFX all the success in its endeavors."

The visit concluded with a tour of the BFX facilities, including its fully serviced state-of-the-art trading floor and market leading Bahrain Financial Exchange Training Institute (BFX-TI).

About H.E. Enrico Padula

Enrico Padula was born in Salerno (Italy) on October 14th, 1962. He graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Salerno in 1988. He entered the Italian Foreign Service in March 1991 and, after attending the preparatory training courses at the Diplomatic Institute, was appointed to the Development Aid Directorate in December 1991.

Enrico Padula's first assignment abroad came in September 1994 with the Italian Embassy in Moscow (Russian Federation) as Press Attachè. While in Moscow, He was also in charge of cultural relations and supervision of the Italian Cultural Institute.

In January 1999, he was nominated Consul at the Consulate General of Italy in London (United Kingdom). In July 2001, he was nominated Counsellor.

His Excellency resumed service at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome in August 2002, serving at the Economic and Trade Directorate. In June 2005, he was appointed Head of the Dual Use and Non-proliferation Desk.

From February 2007 to April 2008, he was Chief of Cabinet to the Secretary of State in the Italian Foreign Ministry. In July 2007 he was nominated Embassy Counsellor, and has recently been with the Directorate of Political Multilateral Cooperation and Human Rights.

His Excellency is an author of several articles and books on International Relations and Italian Contemporary History.
