Geospatial information is vital to the planning and execution of several key governmental and commercial activities. They are particularly critical to national security and defense, as they form the backbone for planning, intelligence, logistics, and policy formation. Around 80 per cent of the businesses of geospatial services companies are focused on security and defense, although their solutions are heavily used by civil government and the private sector as well.

Bayanat for Mapping & Surveying Services, a provider of end-to-end and customized geospatial data products and services covering the whole of the UAE, has been spearheading the use of geospatial data in support of  the 2030 Vision development plan of Abu Dhabi. The company has announced that it will be joining the upcoming 5th International Security and National Resilience (ISNR) Abu Dhabi Exhibition and Conference to explain how geospatial services are critical to the Middle East's homeland security measures and the region's overall development.

Bayanat is participating in ISNR Abu Dhabi 2012- the Middle East's homeland security event - for the first time. It will demonstrate how its spatial services facilitate and empower security-related decision-making, help reduce man-made disasters such as crimes, and mostly support the prevention of the loss of civilian and military lives.  Bayanat will also showcase its advanced spatial support for relevant applications such as evacuation and emergency planning, border breach detection and response, and national safety management.

"Bayanat offers advanced geospatial capabilities for meeting the UAE's National Defense and Crisis Management requirements. We consider the government a top priority although we also target the commercial sector with our products and services. ISNR Abu Dhabi 2012 is an ideal platform for us to reveal our successful projects, share our experiences and expertise in the geospatial field,  catch up with relevant global trends and advanced solutions, and emphasize the importance of geospatial technologies to national security and development," said Kahled Al Melhi, Chief Operating Officer in Bayanat for Mapping & Surveying Services.

"Geospatial information underpins sound security strategies and decisions. It is important for homeland security stakeholders to have access to reliable and timely geospatial data offered by experts such as Bayanat. We are glad to welcome the company onboard ISNR Abu Dhabi 2012 and help generate greater awareness on the importance of advanced geospatial solutions to the success of the region's security agenda," added Mohamad Bader-Eddin, Show Director, Reed Exhibitions Middle East.

Bayanat will join other prestigious organizations such as TAWAZUN, the National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority, UAE Civil Defence, and Abu Dhabi's Critical National Infrastructure Authority.

ISNR Abu Dhabi 2012 will take place from March 19 to 21, 2012 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. It is fully supported by the UAE Ministry of Interior and will gather more than 150 exhibitors from 24 countries

A result of the partial commercialization of the UAE Armed Forces' Military Survey Department, Bayanat draws on 37 years of expertise in Geodesy and Field Surveying, Aerial Survey and Image Processing, Hydrographic Surveying, Spatial Data Management, Cartography and Visualization, and Printing services.

Bayanat's homeland security support covers geospatial data for National, Border Protection (land demarcation, security breaches) and Crisis Management (natural disaster containment, disaster spatial distribution, strategic reserves mapping), in addition to applications and simulation models for weapons manufacturing, assets and logistics mapping.

The company recently announced that it has achieved a 75 per cent level of Emiratization and intends to further balance the participation of UAE Nationals and expatriates in the country's rapidly growing geographic information systems sector.
