Muscat, 22 September 2013: As part of its dynamic plan to support the continued development of the Omani youth via artistic and cultural means, Bait Al Zubair Museum has signed a cooperation agreement with TEDx Muscat 2013 that will assist in deepening the sense of loyalty and belonging among young people in the Sultanate. The agreement centres around creating a platform for dialogue among the youth and reinforcing the most important basis of a successful constructive dialogue, which is characterized by accepting different points of view and respecting all opinions.
Commenting on the significance of the agreement, Abdullah Al Zubair from Bait Al Zubair Museum said: "This agreement aligns with the objectives of Bait Al Zubair Museum to enhance the human potential of young people by expanding their horizons of thought and creating platforms for stimulating discussion that contribute to their development culturally and intellectually. The museum has a rich history of focusing on the development of youth in the field of culture and art, and through agreements such as these with respected institutions like TEDx, we will continue work together and enhance outcomes for youth in the Sultanate."
TEDxMuscat was organized for the first time in Oman in 2011. Operating under the licence of TED, TEDxMuscat is an independently created event that connects people, fosters learning and inspiration and encourages conversations that could change attitudes, lives and eventually, the world. The agreement of cooperation with TEDxMuscat was signed to continue Bait Al Zubair Museum's role and mission in the community and more particularly within the youth culture; empowering young Omanis for their future roles in society, and to enable them contribute and participate fully in future achievements of the Sultanate.
Commenting on this initiative, Manager of TEDxMuscat said: "Our programmes are designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through deliberations on topics that matter to a community and thereby the world. These events are independently produced by local bodies or individuals and are designed to engage their communities."
Maryam Al-Siyabi, Assistant Director of Events and Marketing of Bait Al Zubair Museum, explained that she expected about 300 young Omanis to attend the event and that each individual would receive particular attention in terms of training on the correct methods to use in order to create constructive dialogues.
She added: "This agreement will enhance the values of cooperation between the Museum and TEDx. Bait Al Zubair Museum will continue its mission to support Omani youth and meet their cultural and artistic needs. "
The event this year will be held at Bait al Zubair Museum on the October 2. The event is also an opportunity to learn more about the museum, its heritage and the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Sultanate.
