The Bahrain World Trade Centre (BWTC) under the management of DTZ international property advisors, took on its first major sponsorship role recently, signing an agreement to become Gold Sponsors of the 3rd Asia IT Ministers Summit which is being hosted by Bahrain at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from 21-22nd March 2005 under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation.

Claire Hughes, Associate Director of DTZ Bahrain, on announcing BWTC's participation said,   "The Bahrain World Trade Centre will be at the heart of the Kingdom's business and trade opportunities and will offer a technically advanced office environment with facilities that are second to none.  We recognise the importance of the fact that such buildings with state-of-the-art technology will play in Bahrain's future and, therefore, give every support to the 3rd Asian IT Ministers Summit and welcome this innovative event which is of great importance to the region."

The Asia IT Ministers Summit was launched in Seoul, Korea in 2002 and facilitates the exchange of views and ideas on the development of information and communication technology in Asia with the aim to accelerate global integration for the countries in this region as well offering an opportunity for IT professionals to network and receive the latest information about trends and developments in IT.   A second summit was held in Hyderabad in January 2004.

The BWTC is set to dominate the Manama skyline as a much-anticipated, prestigious business address which will be part of the World Trade Centre Association helping to enhance trade opportunities between the Gulf Region and the rest of the world from its 50-storey twin towers commercial, retail and leisure development.  The BWTC is currently under construction adjacent to the Sheraton Hotel in Manama, and due for completion in the summer of 2006.

As well as the new twin tower commercial office buildings the development will house an extended retail centre doubling the number of stores in the existing Bahrain Commercial Complex mall as well as adding some top quality restaurants and cafes.  The 5 star, Sheraton Hotel will also undergo major renovations and will become an integral part of the new complex.

The Word Trade Centre Association established in 1970, boasts over 300 member associations in 100 countries, all involved in the development or operation of World Trade Centres.  By becoming a member of the Bahrain World Trade Centre occupiers and local businesses in Bahrain will have access to more than 750,000 international trading corporations and vice versa.
