State-of-the-art twin towers a major attraction at premier tech exhibition in Bahrain
Manama - The state-of-the-art twin towers of the Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC) are in the final stages of completion, offering a world class business address in Bahrain.
Situated on the Manama seafront and rising 240 metres from the ground, the 50-storey office towers are part of a larger complex, which includes a modern shopping mall with over 150 multi-brand retail outlets and exclusive boutiques and the 5-star Sheraton Hotel.
Construction work on the twin towers has been completed and, currently the fixing of the exterior curtain walling system is in progress, with the first tenants expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The twin towers are the first of their kind in the world, using wind energy to provide 11 - 15% of the electricity needs of the building. Wind power will be harnessed by three massive turbines, supported by bridges spanning the space between the two towers, giving a dramatic look to the sail-shaped towers.
The BWTC will also one the world's most 'intelligent' buildings, offering tenants a host of sophisticated SMART features, from world class connectivity to surveillance and security systems.
"We are delighted by the progress on the project and are on schedule to meet all our project development targets. This is a landmark project, offering a unique value proposition, which will set a new precedent in terms of design and technological advancement, in addition to stimulating commercial growth on a local, regional and international scale," said Mr. Duaij Al Rumaihi, Associate Director of DTZ Bahrain, who are the managing and leasing agents of BWTC.
The many sophisticated and world class facets of the BWTC were showcased at the recently-held Middle East Financial Technology Exhibition and Conference (MEFTEC) and the Government Technology Middle East Conference and Exhibition (GOVTEC).
The event, held from 13 to 15 February 2006, included a prominent exhibition stand featuring the BWTC. DTZ Bahrain also hosted the VIP hospitality lounge at the MEFTEC-GOVTEC exhibition.
"More than 200 visitors stopped by to learn more about the BWTC. We are gratified by the tremendous interest in the project, which will add to Bahrain's credentials as the location of choice for corporates wishing to do business in the Middle East," said Ms Clare Hughes, Associate Director of DTZ Bahrain.
