In celebration of the Arab Postal Day, Bahrain Post, part of the Ministry of Transportation, has issued a commemorative stamp adorned with the Kingdom of Bahrain's emblem and flag. The stamp also carries a picture of a white messenger pigeon travelling across the Arab world, representing peace and the strong bonds that connect these countries together, as well as calling back to the historical method of mail delivery.
The design of Bahrain's Arab Postal Day commemorative stamp was approved by the General Secretary of the Arab League, and is being issued gradually by all Arab League member states in a uniform manner.
In the Kingdom of Bahrain, the stamps are available for 250 fils as well as a first day cover price of 500 fils in post office branches across the country.
It worth mentioning that Arab Postal Day highlights the importance of communication in the Arab world, and the importance of boosting cooperation in the postal sector through the use of the post, communication and information technologies.
On Bahrain's participation in marking the occasion, Transportation Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Post, Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, said, " By documenting events and initiatives such as Arab Postal Day with commemorative stamps, we play the role of both the witness to and the maker of history, immortalizing the Kingdom of Bahrain's heritage for future generations. Additionally, our participation in regional and international events such as this falls in line with our strategic plans to play an active role in the growth and development of the postal sector in the region, working in cooperation with our peers throughout the region to enhance postal services throughout the Arab World."
"Postal services have historically acted as the enabler of trade and communication, and we are very keen to contribute to initiatives such as Arab Postal Day that aim to strengthen this importance," he concluded.
This new commemorative stamp joins another set of commemorative stamps issued by Bahrain Post earlier this week on the occasion of the sixth World Urban Forum, which is currently under way in Naples, Italy.
