BAE Systems will exhibit several of its next-gen air technologies and solutions at the forthcoming Dubai Airshow which takes place at Dubai World Central (DWC) between 17 and 21 November.
The company’s stand (No. 1256); located in the U.S. Pavilion at the show, will display:
- APKWS Laser-Guided Rocket: Our low-cost, combat-proven APKWS guidance kit transforms standard 2.75-inch (70-millemeter) rockets into accurate precision munitions that reduce collateral damage. The guidance kits are compatible with existing and new inventories of rocket motors, warheads, and launchers; are easy to install; and require minimal training to use. APKWS rockets have achieved over a 93 percent hit rate in combat, have been fired from more than 20 different platforms, and are available to allied nations via Foreign Military Sales.
- Display Technologies: BAE Systems will showcase the LiteHUD® head-up display (HUD) and the Striker® II helmet-mounted display (HMD). LiteHUD is a small and compact HUD, offering space and weight advantages paired with the latest digital display technology, revolutionary waveguide optics and highly reliable electronics. LiteHUD can be integrated into almost any cockpit; from turboprop trainers, to the fighters of tomorrow. The digital Striker II is the world’s only full-color binocular HMD with integrated night vision. Equipped with 3D audio and target tracking technology, the Striker II HMD provides pilots with remarkable situational awareness, building on the already well-established Striker HMD, which has decades of combat-proven experience on Eurofighter Typhoon and Gripen C/D aircraft.
- Air Tasking Order Planning System (ATOPS): This software controls air forces within a joint operations environment by automating rapid information sharing, mission planning and execution.
- Identification Friend or Foe (IFF): The advanced IFF systems are designed to enable warfighters to identify friendly forces and make informed decisions in time-critical situations. IFF technology can be used on existing, new, and emerging platforms including unmanned aerial vehicles, ships, fixed-wing aircraft, and helicopters.
- Hawk Advanced Jet Trainer, Aircrew / Fast Jet Pilot Training Services: Hawk is the world’s most successful and proven military aircraft trainer with operational capability. Complementing the aircraft, BAE Systems also offers world class training services.
Mr. Julian Donald, Managing Director Middle East, BAE Systems, said: “We are delighted to once again have a presence and showcase our capabilities at the Dubai Airshow, a leading global gathering of aviation and defence experts.
“BAE Systems continues to provide significant support to the UAE and its defence-related aerospace requirements and the Dubai Airshow is an ideal event to meeting current and new partners from the country as well as from around the world.”
The benefit of partnerships will be a key message from BAE Systems at the show, which will include showcasing the company’s major UAE STEM initiatives, such as the Make It Challenge and the long-running internships in the air and space domains.
The internships allow Emirati engineering graduates to work side-by-side with the BAE Systems workforce, providing them with valuable experience and skills development which is critical to the UAE’s national ambitions.
Mr. Donald added: “Supporting the next generation of Emiratis is a key priority for BAE Systems and we are delighted that there are now two internships running in the UK related to air and space, as well as the annual Make It Challenge which has just concluded in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.”
