Dubai: Pistache, one of the fast growing chocolatiers in the UAE, has appointed award-winning pastry chef Hassan Hassan, to oversee the operation of its upcoming factory.
Chef Hassan, winner of a host of international prizes, including the Lebanese Chocolate Masters (2005), a golden medal at Chocolate Showpiece (2005), Le Grand Prix D'xellence (chocolate showpiece) "academic national de cuisine 1901" (2005), golden medal at Gateaux Soir Display (2004), golden medal at Sucre Showpiece (2004), golden medal at Wedding Cake (2004), and Chef du Monde / Best Recipe "The Orange" 2003 Paris, was also finalist in the Chocolate Masters World Cup in Paris (2005), and merited a unique mention by the special jury at Pastry Showpiece 2004.
"Hassan has trained extensively in France and Belgium, where he developed a strong affinity for confectionery creation. He joins Pistache after a 12-year stint at one of the best pastry chains in Lebanon, where he managed and supervised pastry operations, in addition to organising receptions for prominent families within the Middle East. He has a vital role at the factory and l welcome him to Pistache," said Matar Al Hosani, General Manager, Pistache.
Despite his long stay abroad, Hassan is no stranger to the UAE, having lived here for five years during his early teens. He is now looking to bring the best international standards in confectionery to pastry and chocolate lovers in the UAE. "I look forward to using my experience to raise the standard of pastry making in the uae. Also, I have cherished memories of this place and would like to raise my own family here," said Hassan. In deciding to work with Pistache, he added that he chose a company with a commitment to continual improvement.
"It is a local company and owned by uae nationals; what gave me the enthusiasm to go for this is its bold leadership who understands that the company is at the forefront of a very challenging initiative," he added.
Pistache, which has celebrated its 10th year in the emirates, continues to pursue plans to expand its retail network and set higher standards of service. The company is also working on the opening of its first chocolate factory in the UAE, which will lead to the introduction of a host of new products and services by the chocolatier. Chef Hassan's role will also include the introduction of new batches, with his own creative variations.
