Doha, Qatar 1st November 2011 - Autodesk, Inc. a world leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, participates at the Qatar Construction Club which takes place today, at the Al Sharq Hotel., Doha. The Construction Club event is organized by MEED and has established itself as the primary networking forum for Qatar's leading construction players.

With more than 70 attendees, the one-day networking event offers insights, strategies, case studies, in-depth discussions and practical examples. Forum speakers will highlight best practices with a focus on new arising opportunities as well as current investments in the construction industry.

Pete Baxter, Autodesk Vice President of Architecture, Engineering and Construction for Europe, Middle East and Africa is a keynote speaker at the event.  He stated, "Qatar has consistently been the third largest development market in the GCC and as such is a priority market for Autodesk.  We are committed to helping our customers and partners use technology to achieve competitive advantage and our participation at this key forum is a testament to this."

According to a study completed by the Research and Markets, Qatar's construction industry is projected to drive in more than USD 22 billion in new contract awards by 2012, showing an increase from the USD 20.21 billion worth of contracts awarded in 2010. Qatar will be hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022 with the aim to become one of the most active construction markets in the Middle East region within the next 5 years.

"The predicted surge in new construction project contracts reflect Qatar's emergence as a premier business and investment destination for the Middle East region," added Baxter.

At the event, Autodesk highlighted 'Building Information Modeling (BIM), an intelligent process for creating and managing building and infrastructure projects economically, quickly and with less environmental impact. Baxter discussed comprehensive portfolio of BIM software solutions for design, visualization, simulation, and collaboration that use the rich information in the intelligent model to inform better decision-making and break down the barriers to better business.

Autodesk is continuing to invest in Qatar by strengthening local relationships and enhancing its products to best meet the needs of the Qatar architecture, engineering and construction industry.
