ATIC to showcase the advanced technology sector in Abu Dhabi and how Emirati youth can become the driving force behind building the industry
Abu Dhabi, 24 January 2011: ATIC, the Advanced Technology Investment Company will showcase the range and variability of future employment and education opportunities in Abu Dhabi's emerging advanced technology sector as part of their participation in Tawdheef 2011 recruitment exhibition this week. The exhibit at Tawdheef will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn more about this strategically important sector.
"ATIC is pleased to be participating in Tawdheef as a platform for introducing people to opportunities in the high tech industry, the significant role the sector is playing in the economic diversification of the emirate and the opportunities available to them. The establishment of a thriving advanced technology ecosystem relies upon the availability of the brightest and best talent to turn Abu Dhabi's vision into reality," explained Sami Issa, ATIC's Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Ecosystem Development. "ATIC is searching for the highest achievers who will be at the forefront of pioneering this industry into the next generation."
ATIC - along with its partner, the Abu Dhabi Education Council - is also re-launching the "Al Nokhba" program, a structured series of educational initiatives designed to support the development of the human capital resources that will contribute to Abu Dhabi's crucial semiconductor and advanced technology industry. Focused on providing the most talented students and young people from across the UAE with dynamic and engaging opportunities, the program aims to prepare them for pioneering roles within this exciting field. Al Nokhba offers scholarships, internships, diplomas and bootcamp experiences that concentrate on providing young men and women with hands-on and learning experiences of the high tech sector.
Entering into its second year, Al Nokhba supported 45 students studying for at leading institutions in the UAE and across the world last year. Al Nokhba also gave young science and engineering students the opportunity to participate in its Internship at GLOBALFOUNDRIES program, visiting the state-of-the-art fabrication facility in Dresden, Germany.
Other programs offered by Al Nokhba include supporting Bootcamp sessions at American University Sharjah and enabling high school students to travel to Singapore to participate in a SEMI High Tech University program. Last month, ATIC was pleased to announce its partnership with the Institute of Advanced Technology in the UAE to establish a diploma retooling curriculum that will prepare students for employment in the leading-edge foundry to be built by GlobalFoundries in Abu Dhabi.
