Muscat September 14, 2014

Atana Hotels, Oman's very own hospitality chain recently showcased their local community and CSR initiatives underway in Musandam, a series of initiatives designed to aid and empower locals and facilitate the future sustainability of Musandam. The first 'proudly Omani' chain of hotels places a major emphasis on the development and empowerment of the local community while making the Musandam peninsula an increasing popular tourist destination. The hotel and resort operator blends local traditions with contemporary culture in order to create a world-class guest experience, while using innovative ways to join hands with the local community in Musandam to support their future development and sustainability.

The Atana brand offers Omanis the chance to explore new parts of their own country and feel at home instantly in its properties, while providing a fascinating insight into Oman for global tourists. As the Sultanate continues the drive to be a leading tourism destination, the involvement of the local community is essential and Atana proves their support to the local community by approaching all aspects of their business in a sustainable and community minded manner.

Pascal Eppink, Managing Director of Atana Hotels says, "We are very grateful that our unprecedented efforts are benefiting the local community. At Atana, we strive to set a benchmark for social activities that are in the best interest of serving our communities. Many Omani artists and musicians perform and showcase their work at both the Atana Khasab and the newly opened Atana Musandam, giving them an opportunity to express themselves while exhibiting Oman's rich culture and heritage. Likewise, we're fortunate to have joined hands with the talented Omani culinary artists Issa Al-Lamki and Sharifa Al Masroory who have helped create Atana's dining menus, giving our guests a true taste of Omani cuisine. Local cooking talent Salwa Al Shehi has trained the hotel's chefs in Omani cuisine while the local staff serving at the restaurant too have been trained and continue to receive Atana's support. Additionally, the locally sourced Tamrah Chocolates provides a sweet conclusion to each meal."

In the Atana rooms and suites, Al Husn Toiletries, sourced and produced in Oman are placed for guests' use. "Taking our efforts to empowering the local community further, Oman's famous textile art is showcased in the form of laundry bags found in every room crafted by Sidab Women and Khasab's Women. The Atana experience is truly the traditional Omani experience. " Adds Pascal Eppink.

The Atana chain has also conducted beach cleaning with the locals as one of the company's CSR initiatives, reflecting its commitment to environmental conservation and protection of Oman's coastline from the threat of contamination.
