23 August 2011 - Asiacell - the first and largest private Iraqi telecommunications company and the first mobile telecom company to provide coverage for all of Iraq - won the Best Performance Award on 5th July, 2011, for the second consecutive quarter at a forum held by Qtel International, in recognition of Asiacell's International Roaming Department's outstanding track record.

The Award, which was received by Asiacell's Wholesale & Roaming Manager Goran Mahmood on behalf of the company, recognizes Asiacell's achievements as the first mobile telecom company in Iraq to offer land, ocean and air GSM roaming coverage.

Keeping its subscribers connected to their friends, family and business colleagues regardless of their location, Asiacell's Roamer service offers subscribers a simple, cost-efficient, quality roaming experience that requires no additional registration procedures; whereas the Ocean Roaming service gives subscribers wider international roaming coverage whilst at sea, making it the first service of its kind in Iraq; and the On Aircraft Roaming service enables postpaid subscribers to enjoy GSM roaming with full voice, SMS and GPRS services in-flight.

Expressing delight at receiving the Award, Mahmood thanked Qtel International for their recognition, and explained that Asiacell is committed to providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art services and products in order to meet the growing needs of Iraqi citizens and contribute to the development of the local telecom sector.

Participating in the Award were a number of Middle Eastern and Asian telecom operators under Qtel Group, such as: Nawras-Oman, Wataniya-Palestine, Wataniya-Algeria, Tunisiana-Tunisia, Qtel-Qatar, Wataniya-Kuwait, Wataniya-Maldives, Starhub-Singapore and Indosat-Indonesia.
